Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary Rehab Phase II
Candidates:
- Individuals who have a history of pulmonary diseases such as Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, Lung Cancer or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Any person who has breathing difficulties
Program:
- Phase II Pulmonary Rehabilitation can begin whenever the client is medically stable for an exercise program.
- The program is an 8-12 week exercise and education program meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Instructions by multidisciplinary team including dietitian, pharmacist, physical therapist and registered nurse are given each session
- Education sessions include disease management, stress management, home exercise, pacing activities, medications, diet and energy conservation
Entrance Requirements:
- Commitment to smoking cessation
- Pulmonary function testing
- Chest x-ray
- Exercise testing
- Physician referral
Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Phase III
Candidates:
- Anyone with a history of heart disease
- Anyone who has completed the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
- Anyone seeking a fitness program who may not be appropriate for the Fitness Center
Program:
- Minimum of 4 weeks of supervised exercise
- Unlimited participation in program
- Upon determination of medical stability, participant may utilize the JCRHC Fitness Center with physician approval
Entrance Requirements:
- All participants require a physician referral to enter this program.
Cardiac Patient:
- Yearly stress test
- Resting EKG
Pulmonary Patient:
- Yearly Pulmonary Function test
- Yearly chest x-ray
- Walking test
