Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)
SHIIP is a partnership between the Iowa Insurance Division, a local sponsor, and volunteers who act as advocates for the healthcare of Iowa’s Senior population.
The volunteers are SHIIP certified following 5 days of training at the Iowa Insurance Division. They are required to attend at least 3 updates annually to maintain their certification.
The SHIIP volunteers provide information about Medicare, Medicare supplement insurance, long term care insurance, claims filings and the new prescription drug coverage. The volunteers are available to present informational programs about SHIIP and the new prescription drug coverage or do one-on-one counseling to assist Iowa’s seniors in other ways. All counseling sessions are confidential.
The local SHIIP office is located at The Jackson County Regional Health Center, enter at the Main/Emergency Entrance. The telephone number is 563-652-4000. You may call that number at any time and leave a message. The telephone will be checked for messages daily and all calls will be returned. If you need one-on-one counseling, we will schedule an appointment time convenient for you and the counselor.
